As an independent charity most of our income comes from grant funding by various funders. This can be on the basis of for instance a grant agreement, a service level agreement or a contract.

In the agreement with our funders we clarify that we give free, impartial, independent and confidential advice. Funders do not have any influence over our advice or our campaigns. These campaigns might even focus on the funder’s own policies and procedures.

These are some of the organisations from whom we have received funding

Over the years we have had generous funding from Shropshire Council, making up almost 50% of our annual budget. Have a look at our income and expenditure graphs. In addition, we receive donations or grants from a number of town and parish councils. Individuals also donate smaller and larger amounts that are of equal worth to us. These donations show that are work is valued by our clients and their friends and family. We run specific projects for Shropshire Housing Group, Shropshire Clinical Commissioning Group, Severnside Housing, Money Advice Service and Big Lottery Fund.

We are moving to more commissioning based funding streams. This means we now tender for almost all our funding. In other words: we compete with other organisations to get contracts. If we do get a contract, it is normally only for a given period of time; usually no longer than three years. This means we have to spend some of our time to get the money to do our actual work:

helping people solve their problems, making this world a more fair place.
